⁵This was their unanimous decision at their summit conference—they signed a treaty to ally themselves against Almighty God— ⁶ these Ishmaelites and Edomites and Moabites and Hagrites; ⁷ people from the lands of Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia and Tyre; ⁸ Assyria has joined them too, and is allied with the descendants of Lot.

Psalm 83:5-8

1. Tents of Edom: Palestinians and Southern Jordanians (descendants of Esau, Isaac’s son)

2. Ishmaelites: Saudi Arabia (from Ishmael, Abraham’s son and patriarch of the Arab nations)

3. Moab: Palestinians and Central Jordanians (Lot’s incestuous lineage)

4. Hagrites: Egypt, North-East Jordan (Hagar, Sarah’s maidservant and mother of Ishmael)

5. Gebal (Byblos): Hezbollah and Northern Lebanese

6. Ammon: Palestinians and Northern Jordanians (Lot’s descendants)

7. Amalek: Bedouins of the Sinai Peninsula (eternal enemies of Israel; Exodus 17:16)

8. Philistia: Hamas in the Gaza Strip (ancient Philistines’ territory)

9. Tyre: Hezbollah and Southern Lebanese (Phoenician stronghold)

10. Assyria: Syria and Northern Iraq, Jordan (modern successors to the Assyrian Empire)

The uncanny accuracy of these alignments confirms Scripture’s timeless authority. What was written 3,000 years ago now mirrors today’s geopolitical landscape.

“The LORD foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever…” (Psalm 33:10-11)
